Diesel Truck Service

If your truck runs on diesel, we’re specially equipped to service and repair it, no matter what the issue.

Diesel Engines 101

Unlike gasoline engines, diesel engines are specially designed to ignite fuel using their own compression. That’s why the rate of compressions is more than three times that of a regular gasoline engine. The diesel engine compresses air at a high compression ratio, introducing high amounts of heat. Once the air is compressed, fuel is directly injected into the cylinder, igniting the fuel vapor.

Diesel engines do not have spark plugs. Instead, they use glow plugs to start and run more efficiently in winter weather. Glow plugs get very hot very quickly, thanks to their dual heating elements.

To increase the compression ignition, diesel engines use turbochargers. Turbochargers quickly compress the air flowing into the engine, increasing the amount of airflow into the chamber. The extra air in the combustion chamber increases the amount of fuel that can be added to the combustion process, improving the engine’s overall efficiency and fuel mileage.

Diesel Truck Service and Repair

Your diesel engine literally keeps your truck running, getting you to work and helping you move heavy loads. That’s why it’s important to take care of it. When you know what problems to watch for, you can be quick to take it in for maintenance and repair. For example, if your diesel engine is running at lower rpms or hard to start, the fuel pressure might be low. Of course, the symptoms of a problem don’t always reveal the source. That’s why you should always take your diesel truck to experts in the field.
